Some changes… First Aid Supplies, Kids' Place t-shirts, etc

Hello All,

With end of Summer cleaning we moved some things around…

All first aid supplies (ice packs, gloves, bandaids) are in room 1A

All cleaning supplies are in room 1A

Kids' Place t-shirts and swim shirts are in storage room 21.

These items will be in these two rooms from now on. Please do not leave anything in the conference room in the office or anything in the Kids' Kitchen. All above items need to be in put in 1A or Storage room 21.

If you need a key for either of the rooms please ask Heidi or a supervisor.

Penny Carnival July 18

We are shuttling one bus over and back. Please stick to the schedule closely on the way over. Your rear ends should be in the bus seats at the departure time. If you are late that will throw everyone off.
On the way back we can be a little more flexible.

School age - We will do like we have done the last 2 years. The school age staff will spread out around the ring where they are doing the carnival and the kids can go off with their partners, they will not need to stay with a teacher unless they have a one on one or if you have a couple that can't be trusted on their own. We should have a least one staff keeping an eye on the hay ride and at least one keep an eye on the 2nd playground.

YBK groups will divide up into small groups and stay with their teacher.


We are getting snack tickets again this year. In the past there have been four tickets on a sheet. We usually only give the kids 2 tickets. I will go before you all and get the tickets. I will give each room enough sheets for each kid to have two tickets. If you spend them all and want more for your kids check in with me and I will get you more. If you have some unused ones at the end give them to me and I will buy a bunch of juice boxes or snacks to bring back to school.

Como Zoo update

Como Zoo is tomorrow!

Here are just a few reminders.
All staff should wear their orange T-Shirts. If you do not have one check in rm 208 or in the office.

This field trip is not like Roller Garden. There will be a lot of other people at the park we need you to be alert and watching out, talking to, riding with our kids.

We are allowing the children to chose a partner and travel around the amusement park with that partner as they want instead of having to stay in groups with a teacher.

We will have one staff from each room standing at an exit to ensure that the children stay in the park.
The assignments are as follows:

Rm 112 and Rm 210 You are in charge of the main exit on Midway parkway. You are also in charge of supervising that bathroom.

Rm 209 & 217 You are in charge of the the exit that is by the ticket booth going into the zoo. The one by the gorilla exhibit. And supervising the bathrooms there.

Rm 221 & 223 You are in charge of the 3rd exit. The one that is closer to the bumper

cars.

You need to have a staff person at this location no later than 12:00

You may want to rotate staff from your room so that it is not the same person standing there the whole 3 hours.

The other 18 staff should spread out around the park and go on rides with children that are to young or too short to go on certain rides. Bumper cars the children need to be seven years old to drive otherwise they need an adult to go with them so look for kindergarteners that need your help there. The roller coaster and a couple of others let the short kids ride if they have an adult.

There are only 16 rides at the park so we should be able to cover the park easily with the amount of staff we have going.

I will meet you at Como. I have plastic cups in my car and a couple of pitchers. Please bring some kind of marker to mark the children's cups. I only have enough cups for 1 per student. Or have them bring their water bottles. Last year the drinking fountains were broken. The vendors will give us water for free but not containers.

I think that is it. The weather report says cloudy and 52 to start with but clearing with a high of 72. No rain. Hopefully they are correct.

Lunch at Como Zoo

Here is my suggestion for lunch. When you get to the Zoo drop your lunches off in the Como town area. Then go look at the animals.  Come back to Como Town around 11:45 and eat there. We can pass out wrist bands while they are eating. As they finish they can grab their partners and start riding rides.

Extra towels

We are looking for some donations of old towels to have as extras for kids that forgot their towel on swim days. I currently have 2 in room 208. Please ask your families or if any staff has old towels you could bring in that would be wonderful. Mark them as kids place and put them in the closet in rm 208.

Mr. Fun Global Games & MN Zoo Re-do. Garden Lady times moved to Wednesday

Mr. Fun will be here with his show and all of his fun juggling toys on Monday from 10:00-11:30.

Roller Garden

It would be wonderful if you would have the bigger kids help put skates on the little kids.

Please go over the Roller Garden rules with your kids before you get there.

1. All skate direction is counter clock wise unless the DJ tells us to go the other way.

2. If they need to get off the floor they need to go around the circle and get off gradually, not cut straight across the floor. People will run into you if you are cutting across the floor.

3. If they fall down they should get up ASAP so that others do not run over them.

4. Do not drop wrappers and things on the floor. Stuff on the floor will cause wheels to stop and the individual wearing the wheels keeps going and falls down.

5. Do not sit on the wall. My brother sat on the wall, got pushed off and broke is front teeth.

6. The DJ takes song requests. He will not play songs with explicit lyrics i.e. he will not play "Talk Dirty to Me".

We will have a lot of staff there so we should be able to let some staff take their breaks during this time if they will not have time later in the day. There is a Caribou Coffee across the street. ( don't get hit by a car walking across the street)

Extra swim suits

The extra suits are in rm 208 in the brown cupboard on the bottom shelf in a target bag. All of them are marked with Kids Place somewhere on the suit. When the children are done using them please get them back immediately wash or rinse them very well and dry them and bring them back to to rm 208 ASAP so that they are ready for the next child.

Summer Fieldtrips

We are starting to put together the field trips for this summer. Are there field trips that you want to go to that we didn't last year? Are there places that you don't wan to go to?
Keep in mind that we typically plan for one (big) bus field trip per week. so if there is a new place we would like to add which other place would you want to drop?
