Winter Break Snack

School - age meeting date change

Lisa Campbell has to be at a district meeting tomorrow morning so we are moving the school-age meeting to next week Dec 12. I hope that will work for everyone.

The ECE meetings will still be held Wed Dec 5 at 1:30  and Thur Dec 6 at 1:30.

Winter Break Elm Creek/Maplegrove pool

I scheduled the Maplegrove pool for Dec 7 12:00-3:00. We do not need reservations for the tubing hill at Elm Creek we will need parents to fill out the waiver. I will get you a copy of the waivers and put it in your mailbox.

We will have the bus pick up SL at 11:00 and Central at 11:15
you will be back at Central at 3:30 and SL at 4:00.

Snack Friday Nov 16

I have ordered 1 box of red apples and 1 box of green apples. There is one box of sliced apples for toddlers.

Time off requests

We are starting to use the ERMA computer system and have discovered that we (Tricia, Lisa and I) can enter your requests for you. So if you need stuff ahead of time i.e. vacation, Dr. appointments etc... you should log in to ERMA and submit it yourself. If you call in sick on a given day Tricia and I will just go into the system and submit it for you. You should receive and email indicating what we put in for you.
Any green sheets that we currently have Tricia and I will enter those into the system for you.

We found that you can submit for fractions of a day. So if you are an eight hour employee and you are taking off 2hrs you should enter .25 into that section if you are taking 1 hr off you can enter .125.
There is a description box it would be helpful for us if you are just taking part of the day off type into the description box what hours you will be gone.

Six hour employees are a little more complicated 1 hr = .1667 2 hr = .333 3 hr =.5

Vouchered staff are not in the system so we would like them to continue to fill out the green sheets. green sheets will be one sided from now on.

Nov 13 Snack

We had 5 boxes of mixed fruit left from Friday. If you did not use mixed fruit o Friday please use the mixed fruit. I ordered 11 boxes of pineapple for the other classes. Please also use up the tomatoes that are in the fridge also.

If you are not using your fruit/vegetable snack for some reason please let me know that day so I can offer it to some else so that it does not go to waste.

Reminder - we are not supposed to be giving the kids b-day treats that are sweets, cakes etc.. If a child brings some kind of food as a birthday treat please offer our fruits and vegetables also.

Central Milk Cooler

Just wanted to give you all at Central a heads up...

I spoke with the milk guy today and he will try to come tomorrow (10/24) to replace the cooler, if not it will not be until next Wednesday (10/31). So we will go a couple days without milk at snack. Please throw away items that are in the cooler if spoiled. Thanks

Oct 29 - I ordered 18 boxes of sliced apples. I thought some of you might want to do a fun halloween snack so I also ordered 2 boxes raisins and 2 boxes of yogurt covered raisins. You can take a couple of handfuls of each and let your kids make scary apple faces with them. You might want to buy a little frosting or something so the raisins will stick.

Winter Break time off requests deadline Nov 1

We already have a bunch of time off requests for winter break. We would like to have any other requests in by Nov 1st. With the winter break requests we like to collect them all and make sure we can balance out the classrooms before we approve them.

The following dates are school release days and early release days. We are asking that staff steer away from asking for these dates off. We have a lot more kids than last year and fewer subs.

Tommy Watson - the man from our back to school workshop will be doing an inservice for us from 1:00-3:00 Tuesday in rm 217. Lisa wants all staff to attend. The site supervisors have obtained subs so that at least some of our preschool/kindergarten staff can attend.

Central Cooler Cleaning

Our rotation for cleaning the milk cooler will begin again next week. I will tape the sheet to the cooler again. after you clean it please write on the sheet who cleaned it and the date. You should put a clean piece of card board on the bottom of the cooler each time to catch any of the leaky milk. That will make it easier to clean. There is generally card board by the recycling bin in the copy room.

There are leftover carrots and apples in the cafeteria cooler. If you need ranch dressing there are several bottles in the Kids' Kitchen. If we run out of carrots and apples I have laid out yogurt covered raisins and pretzels on the counter in the Kids' Kitchen.

If you are in a different classroom in the Fall please make sure you take all your items out of your old room. If it is stuff you do not want either donate to the class or throw out. If you need extra storage for items come check in with Lisa, Vicky or I and we can figure out a spot for you to store it.

Lost keys

We have a set of keys in the office on a south padre island key chain. If you are missing them see Terri or Heidi.

Mini Golf Tuesday Aug 7th

Tuesday Aug 7th Mini Golf will be in the hallway on the 2nd floor.

Each room should make at least one hole. You may make more than one if you want.

Please bring your hole upstairs by 9:30. Rm 224 is in charge of this club. Instead of it just lasting for the 10:00-11:30 time frame we have given each room an hour time slot to use the course.


This year is a bit tricker with everyone out on fieldtrips in the afternoon. If this schedule won't work we can have times on Wednesday also.

I suggest bringing small groups from your rooms. I have 12 clubs. It might be best to bring 12 kids at a time and have 2 start at each hole and when they get to the end they can go back to the beginning to finish the hoes they didn't do yet. That way we won't have a bunch of kids sitting in the hall just waiting to start. As soon as they finish they can head back to your room a let other kids start to play.

Mini Golf

I grabbed a few boxes and some big pieces of cardboard from SAMs club today. They are in the cafeteria on the table with the books and t-shirts. Take what you want. If we run out I can go get more just let me know.

Vouchers

For those of you initialing vouchers for staff please pay close attention to the times that have been written down and how many hours are marked  i.e.  7:00-1:30     6 hrs      
everyone working 6 hrs or more should be taking a 1/2 hour unpaid break. Sometimes that isn't possible because of fieldtrips so you or they should write on the next line that they did not take a break.
John is kicking a lot of the vouchers back to us because we do not know whether or not people have taken their breaks. Unless it is noted otherwise we have to assume they did.

Edina Pool Please Read

I put in a check request for the amount we estimated for the trip for both days. I will send the check with SBK (Karen Brasel) if it turns out we do not have enough for Thursday they will take a count and bill us later. If the person you are dealing with has a question about it please give them my phone number to call me 952-292-7112. I spoke with Amanda who is the head of the Edina Aquatic department today and she said she would bill us.

Mini Golf tournament

The mini golf event is coming up on AUG 7th. I need each class to create a hole for our course. You should start building them this week so that the are ready, and dry by Tuesday.  You may create more than one if you want to. I can get large flat boxes from SAM's Club if you want one. Let me know on Monday so I can pick them up when I pick up snack.

Club for Thursday July 26

Mr. Fun is returning for the club Thursday 10:00-11:30. He will set up in the Big Gym. He will be demonstrating many juggling toys and then letting the children try them out also.

Rescheduled Field Trips for this week 7/23 to 7/27

North Mississippi Park and Shady Oak Beach are rescheduled for Thursday, July 26th and all the times are the same for pick up and drop off.

Central Carnival Wed Jul 25

I have gone through the storage room downstairs and pulled out a few things you might want to use. I put the items in rm 112.
      some targets for bean bags
      10 large plastic bowling pins (you will need a ball)
      6 balance boards
      2 sets of croquet
      jumbo birds for badminton (there were no rackets or  a net but I am sure we have some around)
      jumbo lawn darts

Half-way Day

Happy half way day.!!! We have made it half way through the summer Yeah!
Lisa will be treating you to free lunch on Monday Jul 23rd. We will have it ready for you in the Cafeteria at 11:30 on Monday.

Swimming at Central 7/27 & 7/30

Hi All-
Swimming at Central on Friday, 7/27 and Monday, 7/30 is canceled. Kelson is on vacation these two days. I originally kept these dates incase we were not able to attend the Rec Center (7/27, 2-3 groups) & (7/30, K-1 groups). If it happens to be rainy either of these days we will figure out something else. Maybe a movie to Hopkins?

Tricia will be in charge of bussing the rest of the Summer. Each week I will put in your mailbox (or bring to Lenox) your schedules. If you see mistakes come to me right away so I can fix it. I am going off of what we decided at meetings on times. Have questions let me know.

Reminder to parents

Please reminder your summer school parents that if their child will not be coming to Kids Place they need to call and let us know. If we have to track down their child they will be assessed a $5 finders fee.

Sign in for summer school/spark kids

I have noticed that some of the kids that are not here before summer school but come to us after summer school are not getting signed in. A teacher should sign those children in on your sing in sheet as soon as they return to your care. You should probably make a note in the note area for the kids that leave us to go to summer school also.

New location for the parade

Since it is going to be obscenely hot again tomorrow we will hold the parade inside,  probably the hallway upstairs. I will come around tomorrow morning and let you know where to line up.

STEP donation
